New Rising

Sam knew it was working when he saw that the little bit of her blindfold didnt dissolve anymore. He held her legs a little tighter and looked up. "May I see your eyes for a second? I want to see the color of them in the light." he had already laid the spell, he was simply waiting for her to realize it.

Kote yelped as he was stabbed and felt blood pouring out of his body as he held his side, running forward and ducking down, then pushing his blade up to catch the bottom of her chin and slice it deep.

"a-are you sure? my eyes hurt terribly still..." ~She reaches up with her paw and reluctantly pulls the blindfold down, the bloody tears still glistened at the corners of her eyes and her normally violet eyes shown as the garish red of her kin. they were the eyes of a heartless killer. Anyone who looked into those red- heat seeking eyes would involuntarily shudder, even if they knew reya. she sees a small reaction from sam and immediatly questions him~ "they are red arent they.....i...i didnt think they still would be...i didnt want you to see me like this....like my kin...."

Raine grabbed his hand as he flew by, already cutting her chin, and bit down until she'd healed again. The vampire backed away and sat back down on the log, dropping her blades. "This doesn't feel like training. Just feels like a bloodbath."

Sam held his finger to her lips. "Shh... it's okay." His bright orange eyes pierced hers like they did to just about everyone and then one of them flashed bright red just to impress her as he pointed out. "Look out. See the plains?" They had reached the edge of the forest and the plains were a great expanse of hills and dunes covered in grass. "It's a giant garden." She would also notice how it didnt hurt to look out anymore.

Kote winced as he felt himself bitten again, he sat down until his own wounds resealed and he shrugged. "You're learning though. You get one free question."

Raine watched him closely.. "How about... How do I get out of here?" she laughed.

"You train with me until I see you are ready. Lousy question to ask I must say." Kote stuck his tongue out and stabbed Raine through the stomach.

~she stared in awe at the sight, it was true the light no longer hurt her eyes, the only pain that remained was the lingering damage from watching the sun rise each morning. soon she averted her eyes however such a wide open space unsettled her, even here in the forest and the city, there was still a sense of being surrounded...but out there...there was nothing~ "i-its so....open....is it really safe to go down there?" Her mind could find no tactical advantage in the wide open plains, they could be seen for miles.~

Raine cried out and quickly cut herself off. Pulling away from his sword she fell back onto the ground. "That was a harsh hit... Can't we take a break." She spat up blood and laughed at him.

Kote laughed and cleaned off his blade. "Sure, want something to eat?"

Sam smiled and shook his head. "Only if we have the high ground, we have one night here, were I believe we'll be moving the whole time, then we make it to the supposed city tomorrow." He held up a cloth. "Dab the blood from your eyes before it solidifies."

Raine coughed and held her stomach. "Yea, give me your hand."

Kote walked over and stuck out his hand.

~she nods and wipes away the blood.~ "thank you...im sorry...i know i must sound stupid...i've never seen such a wide open area....by the way...did you cast a spell over me? the light no longer hurts my eyes"

Raine grabbed it and bit down again. She let go and got up, wiping herself off. "I have a proposition now... Don't do that anymore." she laughed. "Just tell me what to do."

"I did, I hope you arent offended. Your body should mend as well. I wanted you to be able to see this in your own light, it will help you adapt to sunlight at your own pace rather than abruptly." Sam smiled a little. "Dont worry, I'll explain anything you need to know."

Kote nodded. "Right. Meditate on focus, for an hour."

"no its fine...i probably would have gone on to hurt myself worse if it wasnt for you...i must seem a rather foolish and stupid dark fox....i know that apart from this group...none will ever accept me" ~she replies. she found she was grown fond of him, he seemed almost like a kindred spirit to her own~ "may i ask why you are half demon? i still dont understand why...." ~She says softly. she hoped not to offend him but she just didnt know or understand.....demons seemed to powerfull to be contained in a mortal form~

"I was spliced." Sam looked down and sighed. "WHen I vowed to protect Naomi and both halves of the medallion, the medallion cruelly tore my body in two and fused the halves with the halves of a dying greater demon near me. That's how Kote came about, he's the darker side of me."

"i see...im sorry to bring up such a painfull memory...its just i cant help thinking how much alike we are...both neither what our blood tells us we are...you by force...me by birth...."

"Yes. I kept my curse to myself mostly, Naomi knows because she was there, and everyone else knows beacuse I've used this power as a gift to save the lives of others around me." Sam smiled a little brighter, glad he could help the world.

~nodding she sighed and looked out at the plains again....the sight of such a wide open place dizzied her and though she still had misgivings about adventuring into such a place she trusted in him that they would be safe~ "well i guess thats the reason i came to the surface....this place is truly different....humans and anthro's like myself living and working toward a peacefull future...even now threatened by demons no one seems to blame anyone but the demons...my kind would say it was another in the family or city who had brought about lloth's disfavor"

"The only one who's disfavor we've brought is the Demon Lord, he tells people frequently, shouting it to the sky for all to hear how he wants only to destroy the light. It gets very annoying." Sam laughed a little and smiled.

~unable to help herself she laughs softly~ "i can immagine, its much the same with my kin, always the high priestess scheming against a house that has lost lloth's favor"

"Sounds about right." Sam shrugged. "So what's the landscape like down there?"

(Because if this story gets as extensive as the last one, we'll have to go down there for something.)

"An hour?" Raine sat cross legged, staring at the ground and sighed. "How long do I need to stay here..."

Kote looked up. "Yes. I'm actually going to train you, the way Jamis-ossan trained Sam. Before he was even part demon, about how to control your powers, and I'm going to go even far as showing you a way to sustain yourself without blood or that silly medallion. I want you to be as powerful as the prophecy makes you out ..." Kote stopped and turned away. "Meditate, now."

Raine watched Kote's back for a moment, pondering what he'd just said before turning straight ahead again. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the swirling energies within herself. "Why'd you kill everyone?" she opened one eye at him.
